Marguerite A. Hayes

OCALA, Fla. — Marguerite A. (O'Donnell) Hayes, 76, of Ocala, formerly of Hyannis, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, in the Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

Her husband of 52 years, Gerald J. Hayes Sr., died in 2003.

She leaves three sons, Gerald J. Hayes Jr. and his wife, Faith, of Round Rock, Texas, John J. Hayes of Foxboro, Mass., and William E. Hayes of Plainville, Mass.; two daughters, Barbara E. Rozumek and her husband, Robert, of North Fort Myers, and Margaret M. North of Plainville; seven grandsons, Matthew, Ryan, Nicholas, Patrick, Kevin and Philip Hayes and Michael North; a granddaughter, Jennifer North; a great-granddaughter, Miranda North-Weir; and many nephews and nieces.

Her two brothers, John E. O'Donnell Jr. and James B. O'Donnell, and her sister, Catherine Muriel Welch, predeceased her.

Marguerite was born in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of John E. and Margaret M. (Higgins) O'Donnell. In 1960, she moved to Hyannis, where she lived 18 years before moving to Hanover, Mass., in 1978. She lived in Port Charlotte before moving to Ocala in 1997.

She attended St. Stephen's High School and Worcester State College. She was a teachers' aide for Barnstable Public Schools in Hyannis for several years.

She was an active member of Queen of Peace Church in Ocala.

Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, will be on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be Friday, Oct. 31, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
