FALMOUTH — In loving memory of Martin Brian Mahoney Jr. of Falmouth, passed due to complications from a lifelong battle with diabetes on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Falmouth Hospital.

Martin was born in Quincy, the son of Martin B. and Dorothy B. Mahoney. Raised in Weymouth, he spent many years residing in Amherst and in Falmouth. He graduated from Boston College in 1974. He earned a Master's Degree at Springfield College.

He was a loving and compassionate man who will be sorely missed.

Martin leaves four children, Erin Byrne Furfey of Bourne, Shannon Byrne Gallagher of Boston, Martin Brian Mahoney III and Joy Christine Mahoney both of Amherst, two grandsons, Leo and Eamon Furfey, and a granddaughter, Frances Gallagher. He was one of nine children. Survived by two brothers, Brian Mahoney of Mashpee and William Mahoney of Falmouth, 6 sisters, Patricia Drusin of Carver, Pamela McElroy of Hanson, Sarah Adams of Falmouth, Mary MacDonald of Falmouth, Martha Mahoney-Wilson of West Roxbury and Dorothy Burst of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy, West Falmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Rd., Pocasset.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martin's memory to The Miller House, Ter Heun Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540
