Peter Delaney Obituary

HARWICH — Peter A. Delaney of West Dennis, formerly of Marlborough, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Epoch of Harwich after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Kathleen E. (O'Loughlin) Delaney for 60 years.

He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Peter and Mary E. (Boland) Delaney. He graduated from Marlborough High School with the Class of 1942, and received his degree in accounting from Burkett College in Boston in 1950. He served in the Army Signal Corps in the Pacific theater during World War II.

He lived in Marlborough most of his life. He enjoyed Naples, Fla., in the winter and Cape Cod in the summer. He moved to West Dennis in 2002. He was a member of the St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth and was a volunteer for the VNA thrift shop on the Cape and Habitat for Humanity in Florida. He also enjoyed playing golf.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Brian P. Delaney of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; four daughters, Susan M. Delaney of East Boston, Beth A. Delaney of Athens, Greece, Maureen D. Donnelly of West Roxbury and Sheila M. Ehst of Stagecoach, Nev.; a brother, William J. Delaney of Dover, N.H.; two sisters, Marie E. Delaney and Joanne L. LaFleur, both of Marlborough; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will take place Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 9 a.m. from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Marlborough, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the funeral home.
