Thomas Latham Obituary

MASHPEE — Thomas W. Latham, 64, of Mashpee, formerly of Plymouth, died at home Friday, July 18, 2008, after a long illness.

Born on Sept. 26, 1943, in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Effie (MacPhearson) Latham. He was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Mr. Latham was a former Naval Reserve member, later working for Stone and Webster Engineering Corp. for 20 years as a senior engineer. He was a member of the Gate of The Temple Lodge AF&AM in Stoughton and a former member of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts.

As a youth, he was a member of DeMolay. He was a current member of the American Legion Post No. 40, Plymouth, and was active in Sociable Singles. Over the past several years, Mr. Latham was an active participant of the Mashpee Senior Center, where he enjoyed his time amongst many friends.

He leaves behind his four children, Heather Ann Morse of Wareham, Laura L. and Debra L. Latham of Middleboro, and Thomas D. Latham of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Ashley Latham of Middleboro, Aaron Latham-Coppage of Middleboro, Camden Jack Latham of Plymouth, and Mitchel and David Picard of Plymouth. He also leaves behind his siblings, Edward Latham of Sandwich and Joan Saunders of Harwich; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, at the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court St., (Route 3A), Plymouth. The funeral service for Mr. Latham will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Vine Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Mashpee Senior Center, 26 Frank E. Hicks Drive, Mashpee, MA 02649.
