Ronald Holmquist Obituary



Ronald Brian Holmquist, 54, of Ijamsville, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Maureen, children Ronnie and Anna, father Victor Ronald Holmquist, and sister Cynthia Marie (Holmquist) Callaghan. Also survived by parents-in-law John and Sandra Flanagan, a multitude of brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nephews and nieces. Ron was predeceased by his dear mother, Rita Alice Holmquist. Ron's Computer Science career began with CSC and ended with work for the U.S. Government. During his career, he worked on many projects, one of which was programming for the Hubble Space Telescope. He was an avid race car enthusiast (Indy!), computer genius, and champion photographer. Ron was a wonderful husband and father and maintained close lifelong friendships while adding scores of friends throughout his life. Ron brought smiles wherever he went. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11, at 10:30am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church (4103 Prices Distillery Rd, Ijamsville, MD 21754). Internment will immediately follow at the nearby Country Church (8817 Urbana Church Road, Frederick, MD 21704). A luncheon will be served at St. Ignatius of Loyola after internment services are concluded. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Ron's name.
