Harold Treen Obituary

Harold "Hal" M. Treen, Jr., of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2018. Hal was born on October 11, 1927, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and was the son of the late Harold Treen, Sr. and Florence Robinson Treen. He graduated from Wesleyan College (Connecticut) and spent most of his professional career as a sales executive. Hal was a collector of stamps, coins and aeronautical paraphernalia, and truly loved both playing and watching tennis. "Happy Hal", as he was known by many, enjoyed making people laugh and was always prepared with a joke. He loved the beach, and with Phil, he spent many memorable times in Delray Beach, Florida.

Hal is survived by his wife, Phillippa "Phil" Treen, sons Harold "Chip" Treen, III (Laura) of Minnesota, Brian Treen (Melissa) of California, Jeff Hardin (Amy) of Winston-Salem and daughters Robin Treen of California, Heather Treen (Greg Plaza) of California, Laura Hardin (Lawton Jones) of Florida. "Hal Poo" was also the proud grandfather of Rachel and Jake Jones of Georgia, Bailey and Riley Hardin of Winston-Salem, and Connor Plaza of California. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Mary Treen Oakes.

This Irish say that death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves memories no one can steal. I hope that is true for all those whose lives were touched by Happy Hal.

With love and a very heavy heart,
Robin

Feel no guilt in laughter, he'd know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He'd hope that you would carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you care.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say,
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day,
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart.

Love,
Brian
