Boyce Cole Obituary

Rev. Boyce "Gene" Cole, age 89, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 8, 2020 in Trinity Elms Health & Rehab of Clemmons, NC.

Rev. Cole was the founding pastor of Belmont Park Baptist Church, five years later renamed Devonshire Baptist Church, where he served 54 years. He also produced and hosted the radio broadcast, "The Wonderful Grace of Jesus", which aired Saturdays on WHVN and the Internet, as well as teaching the Thursday Morning Bible Class, both for more than 50 years.

Rev. Cole retired November 15, 2018, moving to Cadence Assisted Living of Clemmons, to be near family and to receive the care he and his wife Emma were no longer able to provide for themselves.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Boyce M. Cole and Daisy M. (Brown) Cole, sister Cecelia Penninger, and brother Louis N. Cole. Survivors include his wife Emma "Boots" Cole, son Rickey E. Cole (Gail), daughter Cathy A. Galinot (Al), and granddaughter Jessica L. Cole, all of Clemmons, NC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Glenn Stevenson Friday, August 14, 10:30 am, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 1504 W. Sugar Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28262. If you plan to attend, please observe COVID protection advice and bring a folding chair for your comfort. You may view a live stream of the service at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyHm1t9agcM

We miss him every day and also his dear wife, Boots since she's in a NH and we can't visit her. So thankful for 60 + years of precious memories to remember often. We love them so much! Phil. 1:3

Pastor Cole sent me a birthday card one year. It touched my heart deeply and to this it is one of my most priced possessions.
"He who plants a seed beneath the sod
and waits to see Believes in God."
As an gardener, I understand this phrase form the physical and Spiritual. When buried Jesus rose from the dead. Likewise so shall all believers.
Thank you Pastor Cole for the love and friendship you extended to me.
I will see you in glory.

Pastor Cole, you have no idea how precious you are to me. You will forever hold a very special place in my heart. Besides my parents and brother, you were a very important person in my first 19 years of life. I so wish I could have shared with you my gratitude for all you’ve done for me. Thanks to your ministry, I will see you again one day.

I rejoice in Dr. Cole’s gain this past Saturday. I first met him in 1989 at a pastor’s fellowship. He became and remained a good friend and great encouragement to me since that time. One of God’s rich blessings to me in life and ministry through the years has been the joy of knowing Dr. Cole. I appreciated his good spirit, willing generosity, enthusiasm in ministry, and his love for the Lord. What a privilege to know this choice servant of Christ. Looking forward to seeing him again in glory. Marilyn, Samuel, and I send our love to the family. We are praying for you.

My late husband, Ed & I treasure the 60+ years of friendship and 54 years of having Rev. Cole as our Pastor. Gone temporarily, but will never be forgotten. We love him & his dear wife dearly. Numbers 6: 24-26

Boots, Rick, Cathy and the Cole family, My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. It was my pleasure to have known Pastor Cole for nearly 50 years. We at WHVN enjoyed his visits to record his radio program. I was the one who taught him how to record his program using Adobe Audition. That made it easier to edit out mistakes. After we were finished, I would make a CD copy for him to keep. I miss those days.
