Gary Severe Cole, age 76, of Oak Park; beloved husband of Stephanie, nee Springs; loving father of Mischa and Gary "Monty" (Alysia) Cole; cherished brother of Toni Walters and the late Earl Cole Jr.; fond uncle of Troy (Teresa) Cole, Wendy (Dan) Charnas, and Jamie (Vince Keenan) Walters; great uncle of Taylor, Isaac, Theodore, and Roxanne; cousin of Howard Cole; great cousin of Alex and Adrianna. Gary was owner and executive chef of Blue Duck Catering. He was also a retired lawyer and past Village of Oak Park Trustee. Gary was an avid cyclist, golfer, and fisherman. Most especially, Gary loved being with his family and friends. Memorial visitation Saturday, March 17th, 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Oak Park, 820 Ontario St., Oak Park. I extend my condolences to you Stephanie, Mischa and Marty. Learning of Gary's passing has shocked me tremendously. I discovered this news while search for you to invite you to an event commemorating my mom, Mrs. Ethelee Hogan, on November 17th. She was your nanny for several years till her passing in 1990. Please know that the love and kindnesses you extended to my mom is the platinum standard that we use in our professional lives.Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you. I'm shocked to learn about Gary's death. It was only last spring in the local Jewel that we talked about resuming our golf at Columbus Park. We were golf partners at Gull Lake, Michigan where we wowed the the group with our culinary magic. As trustees, Gary and I shared similar goals and perspectives. We served on committees and special ad hoc forums. He offered to cater an event for me in Michigan 4 years ago. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family, Stephanie,; Meisha, and Monty, for whom my daughter Marian babysat . He was a good man who shared many of my ideals, beliefs, and outrages. As trustees, we welcomed the controversial social justice issues facing Oak Park. We challenged what we considered to be frivolous budget items at the annual budget hearings. I'll miss him and only sorry that I didn't know sooner of his suffering and untimely death.

We would like to express our deepest condolences and sympathy to Gary's family. We will miss Gary very much! He was a dear friend to our family. We'll miss seeing him at my dad's annual Christmas party, out front of the house, for Abby visits with Billie Jean, and for many other reasons.
