LON STECKEL

There are 2 men I consider mentors in my life; Ken Pickerill was one of them. He was a person who expected you to try your best whether it was athletics or academics then push yourself a tad more. He wanted you to be the best you could be and set your goal just a rung above that. It was a lesson in life. I agree with what other people have said about Coach Pickerill, Ken was a person that truly cared about other people. He touched and helped shape the lives of thousands. It is now his time to be reunited with his beloved Jackie. Thank you Ken, for being such a big part of my life.

I coached summer baseball against Ken and his Oswego Cats for many years. Ken was a tough competitor but always a gentleman and I considered him a friend. I remember many a chat with Ken as he diligently worked on his field before games as well as other chats with Ken & Jackie in the dugout after some games. Ken was a class act who left a legacy for many to admire.

A good FRIEND to all - Ken was the quintessential giver, helper, and motivator to hundreds of people from all walks of life. He inspired all who were fortunate to know him. More than 60 years or friendship was not enough! Mr.Oswego will be greatly missed by us all. I know he is up there with Jackie wearing those yellow corduroy pants ❤
