Angela Harlow Obituary

Harlow, Angela "Angie" Passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, IL. She was born in North Chicago, IL on January 13, 1925 to Anton and Frances Jesenovec. Angie worked in the office at the U.S. Envelope Company/Westvaco for 45 years, retiring in 1988. It was at work where she met Melvin Harlow, who she married in 1974. This past November, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Throughout her life, she was able to travel a great deal throughout the United States, but her favorite trips were the visits to her parent's homeland country of Slovenia, where she enjoyed the country's beauty and spending time with her relatives there. She spoke and wrote the language fluently. Angie was very socially active in the Waukegan/North Chicago area. She was a former member of Mother of God Church, where she sang in the Church Choir for many years. She later joined Queen of Peace Church/Most Blessed Trinity Parish, continuing in the choir. She was heavily involved in other church activities such as Bake Sales, Rummage Sales, and funeral luncheons. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary #79 KSKJ (American Slovenian Catholic Union), where she served as an officer for over 35 years. She was active with the Greater North Chicago Senior Citizens' Club, the Steelworker's Retiree Club, and Senior Circle. She was a true and loyal Chicago Cub fan, attending many home and away games throughout the years with her husband and her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed her Chicago Bulls, cheering them on from the comforts of home. Angie was an avid bowler in her younger days, bowling in local leagues as well as tournaments. Angie is survived by her husband, Melvin; her sister, Mary Chamernik; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Haas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tony in 1981; and her sister, Frances in 2014. I have such fond memories of growing up next door to Angie. She welcomed our motley crew into her immaculate yard to help her garden or sit with her on her patio shelling peas. She was a lovely warm person.
