Dr. Sally Calhoun

Sally Hanson Calhoun, PhD, 75, longtime resident of Glenview, passed away November 6, 2014. Beloved wife for 50 years of David Calhoun; loving mother of Douglas (Cathleen) Calhoun and Julie (Brent) Johnson; proud grandmother of Renee and David Calhoun, Adam, Samuel and Elliott Johnson; dear sister of Polly Carter, Nancy Owen and Lee Hanson; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Sally was a graduate of University of Michigan where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and captain of her Water Ballet Team. She received her MA and PhD from Northwestern University. She practiced clinical psychology, was a professor of psychology and published over 60 writings. Her passion was writing and in particular poetry. Sally was also a proud member of DAR and the Illinois State Poetry Society. Visitation Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 2 to 6pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview (just south of Lake Ave. on west side). An additional visitation will be held Monday, November 10 from 10am until the time of the service 11am at Glenview United Methodist Church, 727 Harlem Ave., Glenview. Interment will be private at Ridgewood Cemetery.
