Marjorie Reimers Fairman

1921 - 2018

Marjorie Reimers Fairman, a longtime resident of Wilmette, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2018 at The Vi in Glenview, Illinois. She was 97 years old. She will be dearly missed by her three children: Gordon Woods Fairman, Linda (Gregory) Harp and David (Tracy) Fairman, and her five grandchildren: Christopher (Jonathan Saylors), Thomas Harp, Michael Fairman, Peter (Robin) Fairman and Annie (Dane) Fairman Aagaard. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Gordon Percy Fairman. A lifelong lover of learning, Marjorie was the first woman to attend college in her family. She was graduated from Northwestern University in 1943 earning a bachelor's degree in English. In addition to holding a leadership position in the University's continuing education program, Marjorie served on the Alumnae Board of Directors, and the executive board of the university's Library Council. In 1979 Marjorie was awarded The Alumni Medal, the highest distinction granted to Northwestern graduates. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7 from 3 to 7p.m. at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette, Il. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 8, at 11:00am at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 222 Kenilworth Avenue, Kenilworth, Illinois.
