It was only a short while ago that I found out about Mike's passing. My heart broke. I worked with Mike at EBC for quite a few years. He was my boss. It seems odd to even use the word "boss" when referring to him. Yes, he oversaw many of us at the club. Yes, he was wonderful at what he did. The F&B Dept. was a great success due in large part to him. But it wasn't just his ability as a supervisor that made things run so successfully. Mike was our friend. He was everybody's friend. He knew how to run that department in a manner that made it not so much of a job, but a fun place to be, where we all worked together and got things done. He was so kind, so caring, so thoughtful, so funny. He was truly one of those unforgettable people that left a wonderful impact on whomever was blessed enough to have crossed paths with him. My deepest sympathy to his family, of which he spoke so often and so proudly. The world is a better place....because Mike was in it.

I am heartbroken. I was at EBC when Mike went through his first bypass surgeries. He came back and lived. I say that because he had a heart of gold and made all that knew him - love him. Just a truly good man who mentored me when most would have just walked away. I love Mike because he was and is the best of what people should be. God Bless you Mike and Family!!!
Love,
Bob

Just this morning I ran into a fellow classmate and he told me about Michaels death. Mike and I re-connected after many years while at East Bank Club. He was a wonderful man who never stopped talking about his great family. He will be missed but the memories will live forever.

I just heard of this horrible tragedy. I worked with Mike at EBC for 10 years. He had a contagious smile and was a true gentleman. My heart goes out to the family. I'm so very sorry. Sincerely, Caryl Sandroff

Upon my father's death decades ago, a wise long-time family friend said to me about my father: "He was the most reasonable man I ever knew." I now pass on that high praise to Mike Romano - a man to whom one could turn for advice and help with any problem and obtain a balanced, thoughtful and helpful solution. He treated those who worked with and under him with quiet dignity and respect; and they truly loved him.
We will all miss you, Mike, but are so lucky to have had you in our lives. You have left Geri, Csra, Michael III, Joseph and your entire family an example and legacy that will last through generations.
May you rest in peace and rise in glory.

For decades as a member of the East Bank Club, I knew Mike as the most personable club manager- always ready with a smile and a greeting. What to our amazement, when we attended our Queen of All Saints reunion there we stood face to face never after all those years having made any name connections. We had a good laugh!
God speed Mike. Donna De Rosa

Mike and I were inseparable between the ages of 10 and 14. Then in 2010, leading up to the Queen of All Saints 50 yr. Reunion, we reunited and picked up right where we left off !
I will forever treasure our times together from our youth right up until just before his passing.
I love you bro.

Mike was the best. He cared. About his family, his employees, his friends, and those in need. Mike put his heart into everything he did. When you lose someone like that there is a void that is impossible to fill. But there is also a legacy that will go on forever. My thoughts and prayers, and those from everyone at Dreams for Kids, who Mike helped in a big way, are with our friend Mike and with Geri and the entire Romano family. Godspeed Mike
