Services for Ralph W. Riddell, 91, of
Barrington since 1968, were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, at the Community Church of Barrington, 407 W. Grove Avenue,
Barrington, Illinois, 60010, where he will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Reverend Zina Jacque will officiate.
Born January 27, 1917, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he passed away peacefully August 4, 2008 in Wauconda. Burial was Tuesday in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Cary.
Mr. Riddell was a graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where he received a BA in physical education. He was a member and past president of the Theta-Chi Fraternity and served in the Army Air Corp in World War II. He was a pilot for Delta Airlines for 31 years from 1946 until his retirement in 1977. He coached high schoolsports and he
enjoyed bird feeding and horses.
Survivors include his wife Lillian R. (nee Grimm) whom he married May 16, 1942, in Waco, TX, his children Charles Randolph (Marion) Riddell of Houston, TX, Todd Russell (Karen) Riddell of
Pacific Palisades, CA, Catherine Anne (Theodore Bahora) Riddell of Pueblo, CO, grandchildren Mark and Scott Riddell, and Laurel & Justin Sweigert.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Edna (nee Kirsch) Riddell and a brother, Weldon.
