Victor Colucci Obituary

Victor Vincent Colucci, 85, of Melrose Park, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 1, 2006, at his home. He was born on January 27, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Nicola and Celestina ''Jessie'' (Guerrieri) Colucci. Victor paid his way through college by working at his father's meat market, graduating from Loyola University with a Masters degree in chemistry. He went on to work as a research chemist at the University of Chicago Hospitals as well as teach chemistry at the university. Victor married Dorothy (Gubbins) on May 16, 1970. He was ordained Deacon in May of 1986 and served nearly 20 years at his parish, Sacred Heart, in Melrose Park. Victor was past-President of the Serra Club and was involved for many years with the Legion of Mary. He enjoyed listening to classical music. Victor is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sister, Grace Colucci; sister-in-law, Doris Colucci; niece and nephew, Vicki and John. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebhrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 819 N. 16th Ave., Melrose Park. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 until 9 p.m. at the church, with a wake service at 7 p.m., as well as from 9 until 10 a.m. on Monday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Call Bormann Funeral Home of Melrose Park at 708-344-0714, with questions.
