The young Dudek family were neighbors of the young Pauli family in the same apartment building on W Logan Blvd, Logan Square, Chicago IL circa 1956-1958. Both families had children attending St John Berchmans Catholic School in Logan Square. The eldest Dudek children often brought school assignments to eldest Pauli child Wendy who was ill and missed many days due to scarlet fever, strep, etc.
Mr. Dudek painted a watercolor scene he gifted to the Pauli family which we have and enjoy and reminisce about still, in 2020. It is a winter scene of of the Logan Blvd Parkway in front of our apt building that included a tiny view of a snow fort the families’ kids had built one day.
I am that Wendy Pauli and remember the Dudek family very clearly. I picture myself w the two eldest Dudek kids playing around and crafting the snow fort...I think we were trying for an igloo though, not a fort.
To any Dudek descendants that read this, my sincere condolences re Stan’s passing...I have great memories recalling your family way back when I was in 2nd grade. 60 some yrs later I queried Stanley Dudek of Chicago because I never forgot your family and wow, we have a treasured piece of art from a long ago neighbor.
Next time I visit my Mom (writing this AUG 2020 COVID-19) I will take a pic of Logan Blvd watercolor by Stanley Dudek and see if I can add to this memory page.
