Rick Rees Obituary

RICK REES Richard Gordon "Rick" Rees passed away on March 6th in Chico, California. He was born in Fresno, CA on February 27, 1952 to Robert and Hazel Rees. He lived in Hillsborough until he came to Chico State as a student. His legacy includes a 35+ year career at CSU Chico, his work as a founding member of CAVE, and time spent serving on the CUSD board of trustees, as well as involvement in local politics through The Esplanade League and other organizations. In 2007, he married Marilyn Rees, who encouraged him to pursue his dream of owning a boat where he spent many summers on the waters of the California Delta. He loved the music of the Bay Area bands of his youth, most notably, the Grateful Dead. He will be remembered by his roaring laugh, insistence on serving those who are under-served, relentless determination, and his love for a good glass of wine. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Warner Faris-Rees, and his parents Robert and Hazel. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Rees; sister, Martha Reinhard (Guido); children, Alexandra Warner Rees-Gerton (Michael); Robert Max Rees II, (Megan Mae) and Andrea Kathryn Ferretti (Vincent); and granddaughters, Cadence and Delilah. A celebration of Rick's life will be held at California Park Pavilion on Saturday, March 28th, at 2:00. Arrangements are under Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home.
