Alan Dadisman Obituary

Duane Alan Dadisman passed away unexpectedly, on April 29, 2006 of unknown causes. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sally Howell-Dadisman and their 13-year-old son, Aaron, whom he loved dearly. Duane was a caring, loving husband, as well as a wonderful father.

Duane is fondly remembered by his friends and family in Chico, which became his home in 1981. He attended and graduated from UC Davis in the early 80s with a degree in Renewable and Natural Resources/Forestry. His love of nature and the woods drew him to work for the US Forest Service, specifically, Plumas National Forest, for 13 years.

His love and interest in children's education brought him to CSU Chico to pursue a credential in Physical and Life Science. Following the completion of graduate school, he worked through Chico Unified School District for 14 years in the science department. "Mr. D" was well liked by both student and fellow faculty. Duane was born in Waterford, Calif in 1955 to Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Janice Dadisman and had one brother, Brian. He is survived by his father and brother. Duane's articulate, intelligent, humorous and caring personality will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Private service will be held at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Those wishing to share their condolences are welcome to come and light a candle in Duane's memory Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Duane's name may do so to the Yosemite Foundation or the California Department of Mental Health, for depression, in care of the funeral home. View obituary and send condolences online at nbcfh.com.

I am so profoundly sad to have just found out about Mr. Dadisman (as I remember him in high school). He was an extraordinary teacher and human who encouraged my love of nature and made me feel proud of my artistic side and my sensitive way of being.

Dearest Sally,

I hope you remember me, Cheryl, I worked with Dr. Light in his office. I am now in Idaho. I was going through reading the Chico paper. I am so sorry to read about Duane. I will keep you and Aaron in my prayers. Time heals all. I lost my husband 8 months ago, unexpectedly too. Give it all to God and let him carry you through. It has been the only way I could of done it. Fondly, Cheryl Medwick

Dear Duane:

I remember - while on the crew

Trying to keep up with you.

But the steeper the slope

The faster your stride

You're hiking right now I hope.

And when the stray kittens arrived at Brush Creek,

You picked them right up

Held one to your cheek.

We all came down with ring worm -

I thought you'd be mad.

But dear Duane you were kind,

And now I - so sad.
