Carol Purdy Obituary

Carol Ann Purdy passed away on May 14, 2005 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born Jan. 5, 1943 in Long Beach, Calif. and received her BA in elementary education from CSU, Long Beach and her Masters in social work at CSU, Sacramento.

She was a resident of Tehama County for 37 years and is survived by her mother, Kathryn Slaughter; husband, John Purdy; sister, Mary Slaughter; children, Laura, Mark and Sarah and grandchildren, Coby and Jaden.

Carol's love for children inspired her work as an elementary school teacher, an author of children's books and a child therapist and owner of the Former Kid Power Counseling Center in Red Bluff.

She was an accomplished artist, writer and photographer.

Carol was a member of the Park Avenue Church of Christ in Red Bluff and was a devoted children's Bible class teacher.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Red Bluff Community Senior Center in the auditorium, 1500 South Jackson St., Red Bluff, CA.

I want to extend my sincere condolences to Carol's family. may Carol's memory be for a blessing. Carol taught me a great deal about play therapy and using ourselves to help children heal. Her work continues everyday, throughout the region and the world.
