Delhi Twp. - Samborsky, Peter Eugene "Gene"- Beloved husband of Rebecca "Becky" S. (nee Sanders) Samborsky. Devoted father of Amy (Greg) Zimmerer, Peter E. Samborsky II, Penny (Brady) Ferguson and Tiffany (Alex) Musser. Dear grandfather of Zachary, Hayden and Harrison Zimmerer; Nolan, Parker and Hudson Samborsky; Wyatt, Mitchell and Molly Ferguson; Alexander Musser II and granddaughter Musser arriving in July. Brother of the late George Samborsky and the late Helen VanBroekhoven. Brother-in-law of Lucy Samborsky and George VanBroekhoven. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and cherished friends, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the age of 77. Gene served his country as an Army Specialist Fourth Class in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968 as a medic. He graduated from ETSU where he was on the golf team. He was a member of White Oak Christian Church and a former Elder at Western Hills Church of Christ. He was a member of the Southern Ohio PGA where he was Professional of the Year in 1979, Player of the Year in 1982 and 1984 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012. He was also a member of the Greater Cincinnati PGA where he was the Player of the Year in 1982 and 1983 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996. He was Match Play Champion in 1971 and 1974 and Stroke Play Champion in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1997. He was also the back to back Dr. Pepper Open Champion. Gene, Pro Emeritus was the Golf Professional at Western Hills Country Club for 35 years and holds the course record of a 62 before renovation. After retirement, he was the teaching professional at Robin's Nest. Visitation will be held at Western Hills Church of Christ 5064 Sidney Rd. (45238) on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 3 PM - 7 PM. Celebration of Life will be held at the church on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 9:30 AM. Donations may be sent to White Oak Christian Church or Veteran Golfers Association.
