Joyce Davis Obituary

Joyce Marie Davis

Joyce M. Davis, 78, died peacefully at her home in New York City, of metastatic cancer on July 4, 2020. Born in Blowing Rock NC to the late Worth F. and Ruby Richards Davis, she spent much of her pre-adult life at Grandfather Home, near Banner Elk.

She was a graduate of Queens College in Charlotte NC and earned a Law degree at Florida State, and a Masters in Law at Columbia University in New York. From her Peace Corps days in Turkey to her avid support for Habitat for Humanity, her professional and personal life was directed to the betterment of others. She has been rightly described by friends as a force of nature.

She leaves her loving husband, Alan Cutter, and his children, Deborah, David and wife Susan, and Gail grieving her passing. No memorial service is scheduled at this time, but the 2021 Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity Women Build House will be named for and dedicated to her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity at 33 Meadow Road, Asheville NC 28803 or to the charity of your choice. May her memory be a blessing!
