Cecelia A. Modrick

Cecelia A. Modrick, 101, formerly of Plymouth and Kingston, passed into eternal rest Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at North Penn Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born Nov. 20, 1914, in Lansford, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Chaterneuch Modrick.

As a young girl, she moved to New York City, where she began her modeling career. In 1932, she became one of the first-year Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall, in New York City. As a Rockette, she danced during the opening night celebrations.

After three years of being a Rockette, she then became a professional ballerina for several years.

Later in life, she became the owner and operator of a supper club in northeastern Pennsylvania, and a Carvel Ice Cream store.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, George, Joseph, John and Michael Modrick, Helen Soberick and Mary Yelda.

Surviving are her niece, Dianne Evans, Boynton Beach, Fla.; nephew, the Rev. George Soberick, Warminster; and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by dear friends, Carol Stachyra, Plymouth; and Karen Rovine, Plymouth.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Parish's alternate site, St. Mary's Church, Hanover Street, Nanticoke.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Summit Hill.

Family and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
