This man was an angel before he got to Heaven. I had him as a teacher at Wyoming Area. He truly cared about his students. He was always there to talk to and would check up on you. I only had the blessing of knowing him for 2 years and he left one of the biggest impacts on my life. My condolences to his family and friends. May you rest in peace Mr. R. Thank you.

While this is not the type of post I typically make, I feel the need to recognize this man for everything he has done for me. Mr. Michael Romanowski was much more than a teacher to me. However, as a teacher, he was more than amazing. He made every math concept interesting and applicable, and always encouraged my interests in mathematics. Moreover, Mr R. left a personal impact on me in more ways than one. He was always there to listen to me about my personal issues and offer his advice and support. We had the same favorite snacks, and we always shared them. This man was selfless and cared so deeply for his students. He stayed after school each Friday, without any compensation, to tutor students in their math classes, do SAT prep, and help us train for math competitions. He spent an endless amount of time with me specifically, preparing for a math competition during my junior year. We spent several weeks working on one problem, and I'll never forget the way both of our eyes lit up when we finally solved it.
Mr. Romanowski and I shared a conversation towards the end of the school year that I will never forget. As always, it was nearing the end of the marking period and I had a boat load of quizzes to make up. While stressing before making up a math quiz for another teacher, I told Mr. R. that I was feeling very anxious, and that I thought I was going to fail. Mr. R reassured me that I was an excellent math student, and I'll never forget what he told me. You have one of the best mathematical minds I've ever seen, definitely in the top 5. Hearing this nearly brought me to tears. I was not an AP Calculus student, nor did I have a perfect math SAT score. Nevertheless, Mr. R. noticed my abstract method of thinking during the 2 years he taught me, and all of the Fridays spent together at Math Club (which he always claimed I never attended often enough).
I am deeply saddened by the loss of one the best teachers I ever had. It still does not feel real. I am so blessed that he was able to attend my graduation (after some tough convincing), and my heart goes out to everyone affected by his death. I hope you find the best fishing spot up there, and that there's a Star Trek marathon everyday. I'll never forget everything you taught me, and all of the ways you've touched my life.
Rest In Peace❤

We're shocked and saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I enjoyed many Sundays at the Fly Shop with Mike where he would share his expertise and experiences on Fly Fishing. He also generously directed us to a Cabin on the Delaware where we shared our Fly Fishing interest and my family will forever have fond lifetime memories. He will be sorely missed.

Ann and Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Many of my early memories were with Romo. If we weren't working at the Acme or working at the farm by the Midway, we were just hanging out fishing, hunting or playing sports.
Rest easy my friend.

I'd like to express sincere sympathy to Michael's family and friends. I just filled in for him when he went on a trip to Dorney. He always asked about my son, David, and was genuinely happy David was doing well. Mike was always smiling, and many students went to him for extra help. God bless!

The halls of the Wyoming Area Secondary Center will never be the same without Mr. R. He was a caring educator, a loyal colleague, a talented fisherman, and a kind son. I especially loved our many discussions about old movies and movie stars. His knowledge was boundless. Rest In Peace Mr. R. You will never be forgotten. Charlene Berti

I got the news Saturday night from my best friend. I've been friends with Michael Romo for close to 50 years and so was my best friend Johnny that gave me the news, I didn't know how to take it, at first I was in shock ,then I had to settle down and call a few other friends who live out of town and give them the news without loosing it. We were all close as kids, little league, teener league, legion baseball, camping, always ,always fishing, we were a close knit bunch of friends who did everything together. I started tying flies in 1973 and Mike would always be pestering me to sell them to him, I mostly ended up just giving them to him because I was tying for the local tackle shops, so finally I told him why don't you just come over my house and I will teach you how to tie flies for yourself and he did, he would spend months over and we would tie together, since then he became one of the greatest fly tiers I've ever seen.
One other thing I used to bust him about, he was a great pitcher,he had tremendous movement on his fastball, and his curveball would freeze you in the batters box, but I was a catcher most of my life, so we would play pitcher-catcher for hours on end every day in the summer with him so I knew his whole arsenal, and I would always tell him you never struck me out! I'm truly going to miss him, although I have a lifetime of great memories to remember him by, from driving to Wyoming Valley West HS in my 70 Impala to our late night fishing trips to the river, or the 1000's of hours tying flies, or playing stick ball in his backyard.......Rest in Peace My Good Friend.....Yours Truly. It is impossible to express the heartfelt sympathy that is apparent for a very dear friend and colleague. His untimely passing is inconsolable and will forever be an inconceivable loss to all who knew and admired him. I will remember him always.

Mike's Passion for fly fishing was unmatched. He loved the fish, the sport and the beautiful areas it took him to. I remember meeting this eager to learn young man at my fly shop in Plains. From the day he walked in, we were instant friends and fellows in the pursuit of Trout on a Fly. After all these years his enthusiasm to learn and teach others only grew. I hope you are on a great Trout river in heaven my friend. Tight Lines!

I met Mike through Fly Fishing. He was generous with his time and material things and I owe him a great deal. If I was asked I would say Mike was my best friend. I know there are many others who consider Mike to be their best friend. To know Mike was to want him to be your Best Friend. He was not fake in any way, you just knew that this was a really good guy. He was a great man, great teacher, great fly fisherman, great fly tier, great at most everything he did, great friend even if you didn't know him well.
The world is a poorer place today.

I will always remember Mike for his kindness and friendship. I met Mike while working at Wyoming Area. We shared lunches together every day, enjoyed basketball games and the love of old black and white movies. I don't know how many times we saw Casablanca together, but saw it every time it played. Mike started taking me and my friend Kathy Youells to different restaurants and sharing friendship and memories. I will miss Mike, his burly mustache and that laugh. There will certainly be a large void at Wyoming Area Secondary Center with Mike's passing. Rest in peace, my friend.

I am a former student from the class of Holy Child Elementary Class of 1991. My condolences go out to his family. He was a kind man and a wonderful teacher. A few years ago, I ran into him at the VFW in Kingston and he remembered me and gave me a hug. He was one teacher I will never forget.

I had the pleasure of being one of Mr. Romanowski's 7th grade students at Holy Child School back in the 1993-1994 school year. Fond memories of learning and laughter along with fishing stories are what I remember as well as him wearing a lot of fishing related ties! He loved his job and his students, wanting to provide us the best education while making sure we had fun. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends during this difficult time. I'm honored to have been one of Mr. Romanowski's students.
