Margaret Solomon Obituary
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Violet Brenish, Hudson.
She graduated from Plains High School, Class of 1949, and attended Wilkes College for one year. She transferred to Franklin Institute of Science and Technology and graduated with a degree in medical technology. After working three years in New York City for the medical department of Bell Telephone Laboratories, she returned to Wilkes-Barre to marry and worked several years at the Nesbitt Hospital.
For the remainder of her life, she was a devoted housewife and mother to her three children. She was a member of St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre, and also served on the ladies auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Sochnish, Sophie Good, Mildred Skiba, Helen Klemash and Ann Hobbs.
She and her husband, Leo E. Solomon, celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on May 27, 2007.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Dr. Leo E. Solomon Jr., Philadelphia; George Solomon, Los Angeles, Calif.; and daughter, Jacqueline Solomon, Wilkes-Barre. She is also survived by her sister, Violet Peters, Wilkes-Barre; and many devoted nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with services at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church. Interment will be in parish cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
Those who desire may give memorial contributions to St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
