Don was a great friend!
We played a lot of golf together over the years, and unfortunately, I had not seen Don in a number of years after his retirement.
I credit Don with starting the Critical Access Hospital Program nationally as well as for the State of Kansas.
He saved a number of rural hospitals from closing by this single accomplishment.
Rest in Peace Don - and some day I hope we can hit the links again in a better place!

I was saddened to learn of Don’s passing. He was both a friend and colleague. Don was a state and National health care leader and a mentor for many state association execs that had the good fortune to know him. I have fond, cherished memories of SHAEF meetings with Don and Jan.

I have only the fondest of memories of Mr. Wilson from childhood as one of my best friend's Dad's. Can still picture him smiling and jovial at all times. Best wishes for Mrs. Wilson, Mike and the rest of the family - remember that big smile!

Have known Don and Jan since they relocated to Topeka. Over the years we became good friends and golf buddies. We played a lot of golf together at the old Shawnee Country Club.
We enjoyed many hours chatting about Kansas State Football.
Don brought tremendous leadership to Kansas Health care. He didn’ care if you represented a major medical center or a small community hospital he treated you equally. He was always open to input from anyone.
Don had a personality that just reached out to everyone. Big smile and welcome handshake.
I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to know Don, both professionally and as a friend.
Jan, sending prayers to you and family to assist you during these difficult times

Don was a big man and had a big heart. This is a big loss. I will remember Don's ear-to-ear grin, booming laugh and fishing stories, not to mention the pictures of the fish he caught. Don did so much for the KHA, hospitals in Kansas, health care and patient care. My condolences to Jan, Mike and family.

Jan - so sorry to hear about Don. He was such a great friend and mentor to me throughout my time as President of Hadley Regional Medical Center in Hays, KS. Don was a great leader at KHA and I so enjoyed my time working with him through the years. Not to mention all the fun we managed to have along the way. And both you and Don showed a young guy like me how to enjoy a loving, happy marriage and I will never forget that, it sticks with me today. Thinking about you. David Carpenter
