Herman Duane "Sonny" Senn

VALLEY FALLS- Herman Duane "Sonny" Senn, 76, Valley Falls, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1931, west of Valley Falls, the son of Herman L. and Virginia Van Druff Senn. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1949 and had attended Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Sonny was a licensed electrician and had worked at the Dupont Plant at Tecumseh for 38 years. He later worked in maintenance at Harrah's Prairie Band Casino at Mayetta. He was a lifetime member of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars and had served on the Valley Falls Cemetery Association Board, the Valley Falls City Council and the USD 338 School Board. He married Dalene Metzger on Mar. 13, 1954, at Valley Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Jean Baldwin Senn, and brother, Gerry Senn. Survivors include his wife, Dalene Senn, Valley Falls; two sons, Steve Senn, Las Vegas, NV, and Eric Senn, Valley Falls; a daughter, Janet Senn, Scottsbluff, Neb; a sister, Rita Rochelle, Topeka; a step sister, Kathleen Taylor, Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren and one great-grandson. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2008, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial with military honors by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, V.F.W. will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sunday.
