Dear Paula and Ron
Though I never met the Colonel I remember the stories Paula used to share with us. From those stories I knew he was an extraordinary man. Reading of his many accomplishments makes you stop and take an accounting of your own measure. Not many would measure up to the Colonel. I know you will miss him very much but you have the comfort of the many memories you have shared through the years.

It was an honor to serve with Colonel Ohlmeyer. Alan Scott was right about his shoes. No ones shoes could compare.

I had the pleasure of working under Colonel Ohlmeyer from 1963 through 1966. As a young person away from home for the first time, I felt I had a new family at the 6594 Test Squadron. This feeling of comaraderie in large part came from the friendly guidance of our commanding officer. It was truly a priviledge to have worked under Colonel Ohlmeyer.
My thoughts are with you during this time of mourning, but also a time for remembering fond memories .
Sincerely,
Robert Finnegan

It is with sadness that this message is dispatched in remembrance of Colonel Harold Z Ohlmeyer who passed away 22 September 2010.

Former members of the Air Force Special Projects Production Facility(AFSPPF), which was a highly specialized and unique organization developed and commanded by Colonel Ohlmeyer during the Cold War Days, will always remember the Colonel for his superior leadership qualities and relentless efforts in pioneering one of the most secretive programs in the United States Air Force.

Colonel Ohlmeyer's positive and friendly approach touched many lives during his military service. He was an avid sportsman, an outstanding organizer, a family oriented person, and always strived to provide the best working conditions and benefits for members in his organization.

During Colonel Ohlmeyer's military career, his achievements and awards earned exceeded the norm. In his last position as Commander and Special Assistant/Consultant to the Department of Defense's Director of Air Force Satellite and Missile Programs, his position responsibilities and authority were equal to those normally held by a General Officer. He performed admirably in this powerful position for many years, pioneering many new frontiers and technological advancements in the field of military aerospace science and related activities.

Colonel Ohlmeyer's passing will be felt by all who associated with him in day-to-day activities during his extensive military career, and most of all, by his family members.

May the Colonel rest in peace---

I did not know Colonel Ohlmeyer but it would have certainly been my honor to have known him. I am constantly sadden by the passing of our brave men from WWII, with so very few left behind. That group has contributed so much to the strength of this nation. It also saddens me that today's citizenry have so little realization of that. I had to write this time because Col. Ohlmeyer was obviously among the greatest of these.
