EDWARD JOHN SELAVKO

age 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Edward was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from East Technical High School and joined the U.S. Navy where he served on board the USS Brush during the Korean conflict. Upon return, he married Nina Parhamovich on August 1, 1953. He embarked on a career in the U.S. Postal Service and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College where he was President of the Evening Student Council. As a member of St. Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral, he served as President of the Parish Council and was a member of the Veterans Organization. He resided in Wellington for many years before moving to Oberlin, and was a member of Elyria VFW Post 1079 Honor Guard where he was selected 2011 Veteran of the Year. He was passionate about travel and journeyed widely throughout the U.S. and abroad. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Nina Selavko, and the long-time partner of Sylvia Upchurch of Kent, England. Edward was preceded in death by his son baby Stewart Paul, and parents Walter and Eva. He leaves behind son Paul Selavko, daughter-in-law Akemi Nishida, and cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at St. Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 733 Starkweather Ave., Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, March 23, at 10:30am. Interment to follow in St. Theodosius Orthodox Cemetery, 8200 Biddulph Rd., Brooklyn, Ohio. Friends may enter the Cathedral for viewing from 9:30am until time of Service.
