DON SCHUERGER Obituary

"There are no bad days, just some are better than others." A mantra that encapsulates Don Schuerger, a man whose laughter and smile was cast widely amongst others. Born December 18, 1962, he graduated from Strongsville H.S. lettering in football, basketball and baseball, earned a bachelor's degree from BGSU, and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace. Don lived an amazing life, albeit only 57 years, before passing suddenly on September 10, 2020 from a heart attack. An avid Brown's fan and local music enthusiast, he was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by all those he touched with his warmth and friendship. He loved the outdoors, whether walking along a beach on Lake Erie with Ozzie, in the Caribbean or Mexico, or the slopes and links at The Peek, or wherever a path in the woods led him. Don was best friend and husband to Anne (Holmes) Schuerger and best daddy ever to their 4-legged kid Ozzie. He was the beloved son of Donald Schuerger Sr. (deceased), Mary Hill (Robert, deceased), Son-in-law of Joan Holmes (Dan, deceased), loving brother of Lynne Mehnert (Mark), brother-in-law of Wyandt Holmes (Hilary), and beloved uncle of Collin Popson (Halle), Chryssa Popson, Kendall, Wesley, Piper and Phoebe Holmes. VISITATION will be THURSDAY at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE 4-7pm. Funeral Mass FRIDAY at St. Joseph Church, Strongsville at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory for the Mizpah Pier Project (check made payable to Anne Schuerger), or a charity of your choice. www.jardinefh.com

I was his niece Kendall, and I remember going to the outer banks with him and playing on the beach. Miss him lots as I know my aunt does too.

Don and I worked together at Waypoint. While I am in another state, it was both a privilege and a pleasure to work with him on food shows. He was always a professional and knew his customers. I am very sorry to hear this sad news and will keep his family in my thoughts during the coming difficult weeks.

I knew Don through our mutual relationship with WAYPOINT. I a supplier and he one of the Reps I worked with. Don was always an up beat guy with a big smile. I always had a great time with him at the Food shows we attended together. He was full of insight and had a passion for what he did. I am saddend to hear of his sudden passing and will miss him. gods peace be with his family through this trying time.

A very sad loss. Don was always a joy to be around, with his smile and laugh, genuine company, never critical or contemptuous of others with his calm demeanor. He was a great listener and an easy conversationalist. Don, you leave us with great memories and a good example to follow. R.I.P.

I met Don in the Fall of 1982 while I was rushing the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He was one of the first guys I met. He opened his fridge and offered me a beer and he said to me, “What’s mine is yours.” That is all I ever needed to know about Don. Over the next 38 years he never wavered from that philosophy. He had a kind and generous soul. I will truly miss his spirit. Rest In Peace brother.

Don and I spent a lot of time together during the high school years. He was a great athlete and non-stop fun. Sad day.

It is difficult to express how deep our sadness is at hearing this news. All we can do is reach out to his wife and family and hope that the warm and wonderful memories of his love for them help them through this difficult time. Like Donna even said, "how could anybody forget his smile and laughter".
