Tari Leichner Obituary

TARI KAY LEICHNER
June 23, 1953 ~ May 24, 2010

Tari Kay Leichner of Vancouver, Washington passed away May 24, 2010 from complications of MS. Tari was born in Vancouver on June 23, 1953. When she was seven, she moved to Boulder, Colorado where she graduated from Boulder High School in 1971 with vocational training in cosmetology. She became a hairdresser after high school. Tari was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1973. After returning to Vancouver in 1977 she later received an Associates degree from Clark College.
Tari's passions were her job as a hairdresser, being with family and friends, and listening to music. She loved the music of the Beatles, Journey, BonJovi, Van Halen to name a few, and attended as many concerts as she could with friends and family. In the late 1970's and through the 1980's she could often be seen driving her green van with a picture of the group Van Halen painted on the side.
Tari is survived by her two brothers, Mark Leichner, (Kelly), Craig Leichner (wife and daughter), and a sister Cheryl Rosales (Lee); nieces and nephews, Jennifer Rosales, Ryan Rosales, Josh Gandy (April), Jessica Buhler and Haley Leichner.
She was preceded in death by her father Elmer Leichner in 1988 and her mother Margaret Leichner in 2007.
A special thank you to Beverly Anderson, Tari's aunt, for all the help and support she has given to Tari and the rest of her immediate family.
A celebration of life will be held June 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tari's name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I was very sorry to hear about Tari. I was her physical therapist at Vancouver Memorial in the 1970's. I had just graduated and was only a few months older than Tari, so developed a special connection. She knew I loved music, too, so invited me to her party. I had not seen her since then, but have thought of her many times. She started my interest in learning more about MS. Many times I have wondered how her life had unfolded. She was a very sweet person and I am so sorry I could not get free to come to her service. She is in my prayers.

Tari and I attended Clark College together and had a lot of fun. We shared a love of music and she always made me laugh. She was a wonderful girl whom I shall always remember.
