William Hendricks Obituary

William John "Bill" Hendricks

Memphis, TN

William Hendricks, 86, of Memphis, TN, passed away September 11, 2016, following a short illness. Bill was born on August 12, 1930, to Byron and Marion Hendricks in Evanston, IL. At an early age, he moved to Beloit, WI, where he spent the greater part of his life. He was a long-time member of the Lions Club in Beloit, coached Pop Warner football and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

Bill retired after 42 years of active Army and Army National Guard Service, having served in Wisconsin, Arizona and Tennessee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Evelyn Tomkinson Hendricks; daughters, Teresa Hendricks (Donna) of Franklin, TN, Sandra Hendricks (Bonita) of Madison, WI; and son, David Hendricks (Tina) of Munford, TN.

Bill also leaves stepchildren, Karen Toma (Ronnie) of Arlington, TN, Lisa Edwards of Memphis, TN, and Ben Edwards III (Deloris) of Cordova, TN; grandchildren, Christopher and Quincy Lawton-Hendricks of Madison, WI, Kendall Bridges (Mitchell) of Millington, TN, David Dallas (April) of Amory, MS, Ben Edwards IV and Kyle Edwards of Memphis, TN, and Lauren Haley (Chris) of Olive Branch, MS; and five great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, from 10 - 11:30 a.m. with services and burial to follow at same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Unitarian Church of the River, P.O. Box 683, Memphis, TN, 38101.
