Guillermo Mendez Obituary
Willie was born on August 14, 1925 in Brownsville, Texas to Jose Mendez and Isabel Cortez Mendez. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his home at the age of 95.
Willie worked in the airline industry for many years and was a proud veteran of the United States in the 20th Armored Division, #412 Armored Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A, Maintenance Section during World War II.
Willie also was a longtime member of the Conroe VFW-4709 and the Willis American Legion honor guards for many years in Montgomery county. He served as commander for several years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Velia Mendez in 2014 and their son, Jerry Mendez; brothers, Juan Jose Mendez, Elijio Mendez, Robert Mendez, Henry Mendez and his sisters, Rita Mendez and Gloria Reedy.
Willie is survived by his loving family: children, Sonia Carvajal and husband, Javier, Cynthia Montgomery and husband, Gary, Guillermo Mendez, Jr. and wife, Darlene and stepdaughter, Alma Wilson; grandchildren, Kathy, Blake, Matthew, and Nicolas; great grandchildren, Koi, Kai, Grayer and Isla; two sisters, Margaret Flanikan and husband, Tex, and Josefina Wilson. Numerous nieces, nephews, other dear relatives, and friends also survive.
