John Pichtelberger Obituary

John R. Pichtelberger

Medford - John R. Pichtelberger of Medford passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on May 14th, he was 93.

Raised in Philadelphia, PA, John enlisted in the Navy and served proudly during WWII. Following his service, he attended Drexel University and grad school Swathmore College as part of a Navy program and in return worked for the Naval Air Propulsion Center for 30 years, receiving civil service awards and retiring as head of his division. John was crowned amateur light middleweight boxing champ in 1945.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Delores, his son Randy and grandson, Zachary. John is survived by his son, Jeff of Medford, the Kamm family of Akron, OH and Anita Cetkowski.

A visitation for John will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm with funeral services at 12:00pm at the Lechner Funeral Home, 24 N. Main St. Medford, NJ 08055. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org
