Karl Blessinger Obituary
Evansville, Ind.
Dr. Karl J. Blessinger, 49, of Huron, S.D., and formerly of Evansville, Ind., passed away November 2, 2016, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
He was born March 26, 1967, the son of Charles and Helen (Anderson) Blessinger, Karl attended Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, completed his B.S. at Wabash College and earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Karl practiced pathology at Huron Regional Medical Center where he had previously served as Chief of Staff. Karl was involved in several Huron civic organizations including the United Way, Huron Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau, and the Dakotaland Museum Board. He had currently been serving as president of the Huron Regional Medical Center Board of Directors.
Karl is survived by his spouse, Jeffery Van Winkle of Huron; his mother, Helen Blessinger of Evansville; his sisters, Donna (Steve) Pitts of Milan, Ind., and Ann Blessinger of Houston, Texas; his nephew, Russell Pitts; and his niece, Sarah Pitts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Blessinger; his grandparents, Bernard and Mary (Schick) Blessinger and Homer and Gertrude (Criss) Anderson; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sheryl and Rick Van Winkle; and his brother-in-law, Scott Van Winkle.
A celebration of Karl's life will be held in Huron, S. D., at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Reitz Memorial High School of Evansville. Arrangements are under the direction of Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron, S.D. Visit www.kuhlerfuneralhome.com.

yesterday I came across a gift that Jeff and Karl gave me for Christmas. It was a dish towel with a saying about wine and family get togethers. I stopped for a minute to think about Karl. I miss him. He was a good person with a big heart.

Dear Helen,
