Jim Anderson Obituary

Jim "Jimmy" Anderson, a longtime resident of Loveland, CO, passed away June 25th, 2018, after a short battle with brain cancer.

Jim was born on 9/5/1967 in Fargo, ND, where he lived before moving to Kentucky. The family moved back to Fargo before moving to Loveland in 1978 where Jim started the 5th grade at Monroe Elementary. In his younger years, he was very active in ice hockey and baseball. He was usually the smallest and shortest kid in his class.

Jim spent his high school years at Loveland High where he had a major growth spurt, eventually topping out at 6'4". It was here that his basketball career took off, and he was a member of the 1986 State Championship team. He was later inducted into the Loveland High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Jim started his college career at Colorado State University and later transferred to Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO, where he continued his basketball career. He graduated with a business degree in May of 1991.

In January of 1989, Jim began dating Ceri Holthusen with whom he had a class at CSU. Their relationship developed at the Chilson Recreation Center in Loveland, where Ceri was employed and where Jim spent countless hours playing basketball. They moved to St. Louis, MO, in the fall of 1989 when Jim started school at Lindenwood, and were married on August 18, 1990. Both Jim and Ceri agree that by their second date, they would be married. They were truly a perfect match and had a wonderful marriage.

Jim and Ceri returned to Loveland in 1991. In May of 1996, they welcomed home daughter, Annika Lynne, and in June of 1999, were blessed again with the birth of daughter, Abby Jordan. Jim took great pride in being an attentive father, fixing hair, volunteering in the classroom, playing catch in the greenbelt, helping with school projects and more. His daughters were his pride and joy and he loved to spoil them. Jim attended every game the girls played and was most proud of their accomplishment of playing college softball. In fact, Annika (Metro State University) and Abby (Chadron State College) played against one another in a series at Metro State University the weekend before Jim was diagnosed with cancer.

Jim worked at Quantum Corporation for 18 years and was the Vice President of Channel Sales. He was highly regarded and respected in the company, and he took wonderful care of those who worked on his team. Jim worked until two weeks before he passed. His commitment was unparalleled.

The Anderson's travelled frequently and had many wonderful trips around the country. Jim also liked to play golf, cards and he loved the water. If there were a pool, he'd be in it from sun up to sundown. Jim was a big fan of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Jim was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He knew no strangers. "Big Jimbo" loved those in his circle fiercely.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ceri Anderson, daughters Annika and Abby Anderson, father, Mel Anderson, and his brother David (Jane) Anderson. He had a special relationship to his inlaws, Chris and Eunice Holthusen, and his sister and brother in law, Cindy and Bill Kurtz. Jim also loved his nephews and nieces including Jared and Jonathan Anderson, Amy and Jay Roup, and Matt and Andrea Kurtz. He also had a soft spot for his great nephews and niece, Callan, Lane and Quinn Roup and Carter Kurtz. Jim had wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many wonderful friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Anderson and his grandparents Melvin and Irene Anderson, and Walton and Luella Davidson.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to the Jim Anderson #KongStrong Memorial Fund, supporting the softball program at Metro State University. This was one of Jim's passions. Donations can be made at advance.msudenver.edu/KongStrong.
