Gloria Louise Kouth, 74, of Crossville, passed away on Dec. 15, 2009, at her residence, following a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Crossville. Pastor John Halliburton will officiate, assisted by the surviving husband's brother, the Rev. Jack Kouth and his wife Mary Sue of Omaha, NE.
Born Gloria Wright in Dennison, Ohio, one of 13 children to the late Charles Kelly and Goldie Mae (Abbuhl) Wright, she was a registered nurse, graduating from Aultman School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio.
She spent her career in private duty, mental health and geriatrics in Ohio and Michigan. Upon retirement in 1998, moved to Crossville where she worked with Hospice, Home Instead Senior Care and volunteered at the Rural Health Clinic in Pleasant Hill. She was also a longtime volunteer at Good Samaritans and the House of Hope.
She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, tending her flowers, square and round dancing, card and board games, family and friends and especially, precious times spent with grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dick; daughters, Kimberly and Noreen of Ohio; sons, Randy of Virginia and Bryan of Crossville; sisters, Marie Moreland of Ohio, Shirley Couch, Darlene Christiansen and Kaye Schlick, all of Crossville; brothers, Melvin and Ronald of Ohio and John of California; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bernice Evelyn and Norma Jean Wright; and brothers, Robert Gerald and Charles Emerson, all of Ohio, and Jerry Dean, killed in the Vietnam Conflict, May 1968.
The family respectfully asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice Cumberland County, House of Hope, Good Samaritans or The Rural Health Clinic.
