Richard Wojiski Obituary

WOJISKI Richard "Bruce" Wojiski age 47, of Beacon Falls, died Saturday, February 8, 2003, in Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York following a long Illness. Born in Rockville Centre, New York on April 15, 1955, he was the son of Charles F. Wojiski of Little River, South Carolina and the late Arlene Hamlin Wojiski. Mr. Wojiski was a long time Monroe resident, before moving to Beacon Falls 15 years ago. He worked as a helicopter mechanic for Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford for 25 years, until the time of his illness. Mr. Wojiski worked exclusively servicing the VH Presidential Helicopters. He was an avid outdoorsman and will be remembered for his love of fishing and hunting, as well as his gourmet cooking. In addition to his father, he is survived by his devoted children, Matthew Bruce Wojiski of Beacon Falls, Sarah Wojiski Joseph and her husband Chris of MA and Katie L. Wojiski of Beacon Falls; brothers, Warren Wojiski and his wife Darlene of Texas, and Robert Wojiski and his wife Cathy of Newtown; sisters, Charlene Atkinson and her husband Greg of S.C., Ellen Roy and her husband Bill of Monroe, Mary deDufour of Woodbury, and Nancy Bennett of Bethany. Mr. Wojiski is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by a brother, John Wojiski. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike (Rt. 111), Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family & Friends may call on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions made be made to the Stepney Volunteer Fire Dept., 7 Fan Hill Rd., Monroe, CT 06468. Bruce and I were friends for nearly 42 years. Although we had grown up and we had different interests we still remained good friends. We he became ill I was there for him as much as my job would allow me to be there. There was a feistyness that I will always cherish about Bruce he fought this illness to the very end and in the end he taught us all a lesson on how to die with a sense of dignity. My Heart go out to his family His Dad Charles,Carlene, Warren,Ellen,Robert,Mary,Nancy,Darlene,Greg Atkinson,Sarah,Matt,Katie. He has gone first and will be waiting for us.
