Margaret Jones
Margaret C. Jones of Newtown, age 91, passed peacefully from this life on October 10, 2018 surrounded by family and friends, at Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born in Bridgeport to Salvatore (Sam) and Mary (Zambardo) Magaraci, she was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Jones for 59 years, before his passing in 2010. Margaret graduated from Bassick High School, obtained her teaching degree at New Haven State Teacher's College (SCSU), and later, her Master's and Sixth-Year degrees at Fairfield University. She retired from the Fairfield Public School system after several decades of service as an elementary school teacher. They made their home in Fairfield for many years before moving to Shelton. Together, Margaret and Frank enjoyed traveling here and abroad. She especially treasured visits from her fellow retired teachers as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her two devoted children Andrea of West Haven and Tim and wife Darlene of Sandy Hook. She cherished her beloved grandchildren Matthew, Adam, and Christian (Tammy) Allard, Jennifer (Carlos) DeAlmeida, Michael (Heather) Jones, and Cody Jones. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Jacob and Sarah Allard, Jacob Jones, and twins Zelda and Aurora DeAlmeida. In addition she is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff of Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for their care and devotion to Margaret in her final years.
