To the entire Metzger family i am sorry for the loss of such a great man who as a childhood best friend of tim was such a warm welcoming person along with Mrs Metzger there house had a open door to all they met and vwere ma & dad metgzer to me... i have tons of great memories but to mention a few , like he was the founder of ''beat boxing'' as he would break out into vocal drum beats, steering wheel drums and songs that were personalized to all who werte around him as well as plaYing the spoons and hermonica to put a great song off the cuff as it just came to him..... he always drove us anywhere we wanted to go fishing no matter how far he never said no,nor did he ever hurry us ... tim and myself came up with some crazy ideas which half were doomed to fail before we even started building our contraptions but mr metgzer always encouraged us that we could do it and offerd heklp and advise...whenever i would pass him as a crossing courd he always was smiling and so were the kids...he also tought me to shoot at the rifle club and i looked forward to the blue trail range trip each year... a great man is gone but will be remembered for his many many attributes to many lives.. sorry for your loss, god bless you all, with love Jeffrey Girard and family

Timmy and family, I was so sad to hear of the passing of Al. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met and so funny. Always singing my name to me :) My parents wanted me to tell you Timmy that they love you and miss you. I do too. I just had surgery so won't be able to make the service but Bill will be there as he is looking forward to seeing you. God bless your family and Al. Love, Sue Cannon

I worked with Al on the ambulance. He was known to my wife since she was a child. He was a kind and gracious man who always had time for people. He carried dog bones in his pocket in the event we enountered a dog while on a call. I greatly enjoyed spending time with him. His energy and laughter still resounds in my mind. He made this town a special place to me when I moved here. I will miss seeing him. I cannot express to his family what a special person he was. Rest in Peace AL.

Dear Dad Metzger, Nag, Kathy & Robbie, and the whole Metzger Family, I am very sad to hear of Al's passing and express my deepest sympathies to you all. Kathy always spoke very highly and affectionately of her grandfather and loved him to pieces. I hope that a lifetime of wonderful memories and love will give you comfort in your time of grief. I am full of admiration for all you did for him through his ailing years so that he could continue to live a comfortable and quality life! God Bless You All!

To the Metzger Family,
I am so sorry for loss. Mr. Metz was such a great guy, always there with a laugh! He helped coach me with the Stfd PAL in my youth and accompanied us to Camp Perry year after year keeping everyone less nervous with his jokes and inspirational talks. I have many great memories of Al over the years and I feel truly blessed to have known him. You should feel comfort in knowing that Mr Metz was the inspiration and guiding light to many of the aspiring shooters over the years that went on to do many positive things with their lives! My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time of sorrow.

My deepest sympathy to the Metzger family! He truly was the nicest, kindest man in the world. The greatest crossing guard you could ever ask for as well as teaching me to be a sharp shooter, which I still am today! May God be with all of you at this time.

Mr. Metzger was such a great fun-loving guy! I haven't seen him in many years but my memories of him will last forever. He was one of my coaches at the Stratford PAL Rifle Club. I'll never forget the trips we took for shooting. He would always do funny things to the kids. I remember him wearing his monkey mask around! He was always so nice and was always there for me and my family. RIP Mr. Metz!
Sorry for your loss Tim.

I was so sad to hear about Mr. Metzger's passing. What a wonderful man, always with a smile on his face, and with such an infectious laugh. I have many fond memories of the years he worked with my late father, Joe Carten, helping to run the Stratford PAL Rifle Club. Trips to the National Rifle Matches in Camp Perry, Ohio, would never have been the same (or as much fun) without him. He was especially kind and helpful to my mother after my dad died. My heartfelt condolences go out to his loving wife, Shirley, and to their children and extended family. "Mr. Metz" didn't ask for recognition or seek praise for all the volunteer work he did throughout his life, but he is remembered with love and affection by those of us who know what a truly selfless and caring man he was.
