Frederic Fadeley Obituary

Frederic Harlow Fadeley

Frederic Harlow Fadeley passed away this last week, on December 11, 2014 at St. Jude's Memorial Hospital in Fullerton, California. Known his entire life as Fred, he was born in the small Appalachian town of Pulaski, Virginia in 1943. He was shaped by a childhood spent living close to family and nature. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona as a teenager and then enlisted with the Army, where he was stationed in Hawaii. Having grown up working with his hands, Fred was a skillful technician. After the Army, he moved to Southern California, settled in Torrance and began his long, rich career with Sears as a technician and eventually assistant manager. A great many of his friends and loved ones got to know Fred first as a co-worker at Sears and were eventually won over by his playful antics. He was a committed friend to many and he cultivated his friendships through hunting and fishing trips, fixing up houses, or telling jokes over a cup of coffee and breakfast. Anyone who knew Fred would agree that he was a truly unique character. He was never timid about speaking his mind and while his hard-headed persona was notorious, that quickly dissolved with the crack of his smile and a hearty chuckle. He cared deeply for the people in his life and was happiest when he was amongst friends and family. Fred had a great impact on many lives whether as a good friend, supportive father, uncle, grandfather, or loving husband. He will be deeply missed but he will never be forgotten. Fred's memory can be best evoked with a good laugh, and for those who were lucky enough to share in his life, he would feel at peace knowing that you never went a day without laughter with him at heart. He is survived by his wife, Lori and stepsons, Alex and Davey; his son, Dean and daughter-in-law, Tamara, and grandsons, Chase and Tanner; his daughter, Julie; his nephews, Chuck, Pat, Ben and Michael; and his nieces, Christy and Shannon. Fred is now happily reunited with his son, Eric; his parents, Gaye and Oliver; his sister, Olivia and his brother, Leslie. A Memorial Service will be held on December 20, 2014 at 11:00 am, at McAulay and Wallace, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits. Yesterday, I was going through photos, most, were recent years where we would all meet at Uncle Eddies, trips to Pismo and Crystal Cove. You are thought of often and I do miss hearing your voice and getting those random calls just to say hi or check in letting me know what you and Lori were doing. I have a couple of voicemails saved just to hear you. Love you Uncle Fred, but you already knew that. XO

I did not expect this when I googled Fred Fadeley. I knew Fred from a time when we both worked together in Torrance. He is a real character and a good friend. I miss him and Lori too. I am sorry I wasn't aware of his passing. But that would be my fault.
My prayers are with you Lori. God bless.

Hey Uncle Fred. I miss you. I love you. You know the rest. I know wishes like this can't happen, but I wish u were still here. You tried, but it just was too much. Tired damn body.
I love you, my Uncle. Can't say good-bye, won't. Just wanted to say hi.
Love, your niece. Christy

I am sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He hired me into Sears as a tech. SAs the obit stated, he could be "hardnosed" at times but he was always very fair to me. Thanks Fred.
