This is a very late post, but I took several classes with John before attending the University of Redlands and teaching art for many years. His knowledge, skill and compassion were extensive and rivaled later teachers. Thank you. My admiration for community colleges remains strong. I also took classes with Dan Alvich - whose comment appears here, another wonderful teacher.

You can tell how much John was loved by the emotions his children have felt in his passing. He is missed and loved.

My husband and I took John's art history class many years ago and both of us were impressed by his passion and expertise. For me his class was the best window into human history. We were grateful for the true respect and courtesy he showed every one of the students in our class.

I was a student of John Cassone's at L.A. Harbor College in 1967. He was one of my instructors who stood out from the rest. His encouragement and support came at a time when it was sorely needed, and I have always appreciated him for that.
