Katherine Rose Reiff died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in Woodland at the age of 96.
Mrs. Reiff was born in Woodland on Jan. 22, 1911, to "FW" and Katie (Schaupp) Franke. She lived in the Woodland area all her life. After graduating from Cacheville Elementary School in Yolo and Woodland High School, she worked for two years at Woodland Clinic Hospital. She married Bill Reiff on Sept. 26, 1931, and moved across Cache Creek to their new home.
Mrs. Reiff workwith her husband on the dairy and ranch while raising their family. At St. John's United Church of Christ, Mrs. Reiff was baptized, confirmed, married. Her activities included Thursday Club, Town & Country Club and the Red Cross. During WWII she participated in the Early Warning System.
Surviving Mrs. Reiff are her three daughters, Bernice Epperson and husband David of Sugarland, Texas, Jean Seward of Woodland, and Willa Reiff of Vacaville; and brother, Harold Franke. Also surviving are grandchildren, Bill Seward and wife Tracy of Dixon, Chereise Seward Bartlett and husband Randy of Woodland, Sam Seward and wife Delia of Fresno, Anna Epperson Kelley and husband Bryan of Sugarland, Texas, and Lara Epperson Sweeney and husband Brian of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Joseph and Dan Bartlett, Chrys Seward, Jessica, Katie Jean and Nicole Seward, Connor and Cassidy Kelley, Sean and Maggie Sweeney and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970 as well as by her parents.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 432 Cleveland St., Woodland, with Rev. Jerry Wells officiating. Committal will be private. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
