Leona Staley Obituary

Leona Staley SchenectadyLeona Staley, 90, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Born in Albany, NY on January 30, 1923 to Morris and Florence Adler, Lee was a graduate of the Schenectady city school system. She lived in Schenectady nearly all of her life and retired from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles in 1981. Although her interests included gardening and crafts, her true passion in life was her family. She was the beloved wife of Ralph H. Staley for 66 years until his passing in 2009. She is survived by and was the devoted mother to Patricia Gebo (Robert) of Scotia, NY; and the cherished grandmother to Dr. Kelly Gebo (Dr. Michael Polydefkis) of Baltimore, MD, and Matthew Gebo (Priya) of Brooklyn, NY. In addition, she is survived by her loving great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Leela, Elizabeth and Dhara. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, July 26 from 9:30 to 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, NY. Burial will take place at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in Lee's memory to the Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to R.J. DeLuccia Funeral Service, 1605 Helderberg Avenue.
