MASAYUKI KAWAHATA Obituary

Masayuki (Mike) Kawahata of Scotia died on April 15th, at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Weston, MA, at the age of 86. The memorial service will be held at the Glen Sanders Mansion on Sunday, May 2nd at 4:30 p.m. A native of Osaka, Japan, Mr. Kawahata was employed as a chemical engineer at Environment One in Schenectady. After earning a bachelor's of science degree at Kyoto University and working for Osaka Gas Company, Mr. Kawahata attended the University of Virginia where he earned his master's of science and Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his doctorate of philosophy; both in chemical engineering. A steadfast friend and co-worker, a devoted husband, a loving father and an honorable man, Mr. Kawahata was also passionate about tennis, his rose garden, his new grandson and sunny packed-powder days in the nearby mountains. He is survived by his son, Noriyuki; his daughter-in-law, Amy; his grandson, Owen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Mr. Kawahata's name to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (P.O. Nouri and family... my deepest sympathies at the passing of your dad. He was a good and honorable man. I worked for him for a few years at E/One.
