PATRICIA MERGES Obituary

Patricia M. Merges of Mount Prospect for 25 years A funeral Mass for Patricia M. Merges (nee Kirk), formerly of Edison Park in Chicago, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Road (Route 83) and Lincoln St., Mount Prospect. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will be private. Born April 20, 1928, in Oak Park, to the late Arthur and Mary (nee Scanlan) Kirk, she passed away Jan. 25, 2013, at home, with her family by her side. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Bill) Duggan, Jeanne (Tom) Boecher, Marianne (Jack) Sorensen, and sons, Bill (Yolanda) and Tim (Kate Noonan) Merges; grandchildren, Neal (Kristen) Deacon, Kolleen (Jesse) Eyerly, Molly (Jake Johnson) Deacon, Kirk (Nicole Stewart) Sorensen, Kelly Sorensen, Anne Duggan and Alyssa Merges; great-grandchildren, Liam, Mason, Jackson and Nora; and brother, Richard (Helenann) Kirk; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, William, preceded her in death on March 22, 2005. Pat was a member of St. Raymond Parish for 25 years. She was part of many ministries over the years at St. Raymond's and most recently the Ministry of Praise. Pat attended DePaul University and was a secretary before she was married and after her children were raised. She was a woman of great faith, and family and friends were the greatest joys in her life. If desired, Memorials can be made to Misericordia, 6300 N. Ridge Ave., Chicago, IL 60660 or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were made by Cremation Society of Illinois. For information, call 847-259-6505.
