THOMAS SCHRAMM Obituary

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - Thomas William Schramm, 84, passed away January 5, 2016. Tom was born April 7, 1931 in Highland Park, IL to the late Maynard and Mary (nee Pouba) Schramm. Tom was a loving husband to the late Nancy Theresa Schramm (nee Sheahen) for 59 years. Together, they enjoyed the adventure of raising seven children, dancing and traveling. They spent part of their retirement in Goodyear, AZ and in 2002 returned to Arlington Heights to be near family and lifelong friends. Growing up with his brother, Chuck, they shared a passion for basketball and golf. Tom and his children attended many basketball games of teams that Chuck coached. The Schramm Family will always cherish those memories. After serving as a drill sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Tom married and began a successful career as a labor relations mediator in the printing industry. Tom worked very hard to create opportunities for his children. He also spent countless hours watching his children participate in many sports and activities at Rolling Meadows High School. He rarely missed an event and will be fondly remembered for being one of the first dads to arrive. His commitment to being 15 minutes early to everything will be met with laughs for years to come. Tom is survived by his loving children, Thomas (Dory), John (Janice), Patrick (Ron), Mark, Joseph, Mary (Joe) Pascual and Nancy; grandchildren, Mark, Jack, Nina, Emmy and Nathan; dear brother Charles (Marcia); sisters-in-law, Virginia, Mary, Barbara (Ray), Anita (Ray) and Patrice; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy on October 20, 2015; grandson Will; niece Lisa; brothers-in-law John P., John and Virgil. The family will have a private celebration of his life at a later date and requests donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.

What a wonderful and joyous man Tom was. Such a loving husband and so engaged in the lives of his children. I am certain his smile and fun spirit will be missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. I'm sure he will be talked about on a daily basis and especially at the family table. I will pray for solace for the Schramm family during this difficult time in your lives. -- Mary Katherine Krause

Joe, Nan, and family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing, especially so soon after losing your mother. It sounds like your parents created a wonderful life for you all, and I hope that the love and family bond they fostered will give you strength and comfort in the days ahead.

Schramm children, I am so very sorry for your loss. Your dad sounds like a terrific guy and I know you will carry many wonderful memories with you always. I had to smile over his lesson to always arrive 15 minutes early. This is a lesson my husband also has tried to instill in our kids. Your continued connection to each other to share these memories and maintain that family bond will be your parents' legacy.
