DANIEL DONAHUE Obituary

BARRINGTON - Daniel J. Donahue, 91, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, in the Barrington Garlands Prairieview facility. He was born April 23, 1923, in Lowell, Mass. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Zobrist Donahue of Barrington; three children; Peter L. Donahue (Marilyn), Paula Kaeble (Christopher) and Dorian Wichman (Christopher); 10 grandchildren; two brothers; Richard K. Donahue and David Donahue; and two sisters; Dorothy Sullivan and Catherine Donahue. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph P. Donahue, Jr., and one sister, Margaret. He was a graduate of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and served with the United States Navy during World War II. Following his service, he received his law degree from Boston University. Daniel was a venture capitalist involved in many aspects of the business world including being past co-owner of the Atlanta Braves baseball team and served as president until the franchise was sold to Ted Turner. The funeral and burial took place in Morton, Ill., on March 27. Burial was in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, where military rites were conducted. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, in St. Anne's Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington, followed by a reception and luncheon at Barrington Hills Country Club. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
