ALBERT ROSANOVA Obituary

Albert Rosanova Jr., M.D. of Barrington We are very sad to let our family and friends know that after a long and very brave struggle, Albert Rosanova Jr., M.D., passed away at St. Alexius Hospital on June 5, 2010. His family, friends and some of the most outstanding nursing and medical staff at St. Alexius Hospital surrounded him. All of these people filled his and our last days with incredible kindness. Only the day before he had given everyone thumbs up, in his usual optimistic way, giving everyone hope. His devotion to his patients, his ability to truly listen to them and understand them, his wisdom, his selflessness, will be missed by the patients that he oversaw for decades. The older patients sent their children to the good doctor. These children sent their children to him and so everyone will miss him. His genuine concern for humanity was a treasure God gave to him. He was an attending surgeon on staff at St. Alexius Hospital. He had many long friendships from those years. He was a captain in the Air Force, former medical director of the Chicago Park District, member of the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and avid sailor, pilot and fisherman. His real focus however, was his family, and he was a generous, kind father. Albert had four daughters, Adelaide, Ashley, Alexis and Austin. His death left a permanent scar in our hearts. Albert is survived by and will always be remembered by his wife Mary, their four daughters and an enormous extended family of friends, patients and co-workers. Mary and the children want to thank their family and friends for the love and support they demonstrated every day of the last difficult year. The family also wants to thank the incredible staff at St. Alexius Hospital, ICU nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, renal staff and renal nurses, administrator and doctors, especially Dr. Zahrehelski, Dr. Cohen and Dr. Payne for their compassion, support and constant care. A visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Road, Algonquin/Lake in the Hills. For information, 847-458-1700.

Dear Maryann and Mark,

I am saddened to be informed of your brothers death. He was a gentle man. I am sure your family was a source of love , joy, and comfort to Albert. To have siblings such as your family is a comfort when one is facing this fruitless struggle at the time we pass.
You were always a wonderful close family who cared for each other. This you can go to meet our maker with.

very painful, yet so beautiful ... Altho I never physically met wife and daughters until today, Albert talked about them so much I almost felt like part of the family .. but that's how Al was - once you got to know him, he made you feel like family. I worked with him for 25 years, , so we got to kow each other soooooo well .. I miss him - I know we all do ... peaceAl
~ , you will be missed.

To Al's family, my sincere condolences. I have not seen Al for 17 years, since I moved to Texas. Al was my closest friend. I spent many hours on telephones with Al. He was a very funny guy; we would keep each other in stitches. We were nearly the identical age. We had kind of our own language, since we spent so much time together. I regret that I never got back in touch with Al but I wanted to let you know what a good man he was. I really enjoyed being around him. I was single at the time, but he was a good family man. The only thing I can remember him talking about was his wife and kids. I am sure he will be missed.

It will be the little things
that you will remember,
the quiet moments,
the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem
hard right now,
it will be the memories

that help to push
away the pain
and bring the smiles
back again.

He looked good, was laughing and having a wonderful time. He told me that he wanted to be at more family affairs and how great it was to see his cousins and be together again. Now he is in God's loving arms and with the rest of his family. Someday, we will meet again. Until than Buvvy you are in my heart and prayers.

To the family of Dr Albert Rosanova Jr.,

I believe that these words of Saint Augustine sums up the life of our dear beloved doctor:

What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like. Saint Augustine

Dear Doc,

May the angels lead you into Paradise. May the martyrs come to greet you on the way. May they lead you home to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem. May the choirs of angels come to welcome you. May they take you to the arm of Abraham, where Lazarus is poor no longer, and there may you find rest, rest eternal. Amen

Sleep well sweet prince.

With love,

Alberta
