I will always have Dan in my thoughts. When I was 14yrs old I was asked by his parents to be his godmother. I was so proud to do it. This is why he will always be remembered by me. I watched. him grow into a man , marry and have a wonderful family. I was proud of him.

I am just learning of Dan's passing this morning. I worked with him on and off over the years through truancy and the school district, and I would like to send my deepest condolences to his family. Always funny, always friendly and very good to work with, what a loss to Elgin and our schools.

What a spirit this man was. A mix of all the elements you want in a friend. Was trying to explain to my wife what a presence he was, even after all these years I can remember the smile, the laugh. I also tried explaining to her what it was like watching Packers-Bears game in the garage, back in the day. Condolences to Susan & the family.

The town of Elgin and the Larkin HS community have lost a great and genuine man. What a great influence he had on those that were fortunate enough to have him touch their lives. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to Sue, Don, Ryne & Ashley and each in their extended families. The world has lost a great dad, grandfather, coach and friend. Thinking of him calling us chuckleheads as kids and asking us if he was speaking Swahili always makes me smile! My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

My heartfelt prayers and sympathy to the entire Koessl family. I have grown up almost all my life with Dan, and his family, my children knew him as Uncle Dan and worshipped him. He will be sadly missed by our whole family, his Larkin Center family, and anyone who knew him. He brought great joy to everyone he encountered.

Loved playing for Coach K. He was never one extreme or the other, just motivated. You knew when you had done well and you knew when you needed to step it up. Coach had a positive impact on so many kids through coaching and reffing. He will be missed. Chris Sterricker St. Edward Baseball1987 - 1991
