Dear brother in heaven, it´s been 15 years since your passing. It feels as devastating now as it did then. I´m doing my best to keep spirits up, but I think of you and how badly you´re missed and I cry. I love you, John.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. I remember meeting him in my class with John Garret at Arrowmont in '99 at HGA's Basketry Conference. I recall him givng away bunches of his laminate pieces to anyone who wanted some. Take care.

In our lives we, sometimes, are blessed with extraordinary gifts. John Skau was such a gift for me when I took his class at North Country Studio Workshops in Vermont this year. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I will never forget this gentle giant of a man.

Our hearts are so sad. Our son Brian went to school with Eric. We were shocked when we read it in the paper. Please know our thoughs and prayers are with you. The Craig McCormick Family

We met John only a few times, but he was a warm and friendly man. Besides his beautiful work, his grace and integrity live on through his sons and his incredibly loving family, whom we have come to know. Our thoughts are with Erik and the rest of John's family.

John Skau, whose personality effected me deeply, is the only human I have ever known whose demeanor embodied the same characteristics most like those, I feel, of Jesus Christ - unlimited patience and generosity, kindly persuasive and caring, soft spoken and not affected by tensions in a group setting, gentleness to the inth degree, very talented and original. I could go on and on. To me, John was my giant.

John was always ready to share what he knew and encourage the rankest beginner. A gentle and caring man. We are the better for him. Love you, John. We'll miss you.

Rick and I feel very fortunate to have known John for many years. Before we moved away from Greensboro, we bought several of John's beautiful baskets for our new home. John has been and will continue to be an inspiration to many. We will miss him.
